Caribbean Reef Exhibit

The Caribbean Reef Exhibit is a large tank (~30,000 gal) located at the center of the aquarium. The corals are all fake - cement and paint. The fish on the other hand are quite alive, and a fairly true representation of those you would find around a real reef. Several times a day, divers equipped with underwater radios enter the exhibit and feed the animals while interacting with the audience outside via the radio microphone.

The exhibit was divided into two parts - a small walled-off section for small fish you would customarily see in tropical marine fish stores, and the rest of the exhibit left open for the larger reef fish.

Divers entered the tank by first climbing onto a shallow platform not visible to the public, and then entering the exhibit area by swimming through a small underwater gate.
